Change can feel overwhelming; knowing that we need change can also be liberating. Whatever you are feeling at this moment, if you are here you've probably decided that something needs to shift. By simply noticing what is happening in your life and deciding that you'd like to see yourself living differently, you are on your way.
Each therapist offers something unique: in addition to our education, practicum and clinical experience, we are individuals with our own life experience that we bring to our work. It's the science and art of therapy. The science of therapy provides us with data that tells us which therapeutic strategies work best for specific problems. For me, knowing the science is crucial; using it, however, is an art. The art of therapy is in that relationship between client and therapist. What should you be looking for? A therapist should be kind, empathic, humorous, direct, open, honest and knowledgeable. A good therapist works in the place where science and art collide. This is where I reside when working with clients. This is where therapy can be the most productive and meaningful. We work together, side-by-side, to explore and find insight and awareness. But I will also encourage you to go further. We will work toward tangible, measurable change in your life.
I offer a supportive and healing environment to address what's bothering you most, where it might be coming from, and how you can make the changes you seek to create a textured, satisfying and authentic life. I look forward to meeting you in this place and taking the journey of therapy together.
